The T-Bird baseball team is slated to face Kennesaw State on Friday and Saturday, but snow may force cancellation.

SUU Assistant Media Relations Director Kyle Cottam said baseball venues in St. George and Las Vegas are booked for the weekend, but also said the team was looking to see if venues in Mesquite, Nev. were available.

Cottam said he is unsure if the games scheduled would even be played.
According to weather.com, Cedar City has suffered seven inches of snow Friday  as of Wednesday at noon.

The Web site forecast calls for 43 degrees and sun.

However, more showers are forecasted for Saturday.

Kennesaw State, which is based in Kennesaw, Ga. — a suburb of Atlanta, would have to make its cross-country trip with security in knowing the games would be played.

The Owls (5-8) have boasted an impressive non-conference schedule, which is scheduled to continue against SUU on Friday and Saturday.

Although a small school, Kennesaw State has beaten Georgia and Tennessee this season, both of the powerful South Eastern Conference.

The Owls have even proven  to a rising baseball program within Major League Baseball.
Kennesaw State had 13 players selected in last year’s MLB Draft.

Most notably was pitcher Chad Jenkins, who the Toronto Blue Jays drafted with the No. 17 overall pick.

The T-Birds had just one MLB draftee. Outfielder Nick Freitas was tabbed by the Minnesota Twins in the 33rd round.

The softball team may also find problems with the snow.

The team was in Las Vegas on Wednesday playing against UNLV, the team is scheduled to play South Dakota State on Friday.

The game against the Jackrabbits is slated to begin the T-Birds’ conference schedule.

However, the T-Birds (3-12) will look to start off its conference schedule with wins over SDSU.

The Jackrabbits (4-13) has challenged No. 20 Florida State this season, but has a non-conference schedule chalked full of “non-quality” teams.

First pitch is slated for 1 p.m. on Friday for the softball team and 3 p.m. for the baseball team.
