I am happy with the thoughts that people have posted in response to the article and the results of the election but I resent the thought people may have that student government reps don't care about the students that elected them into that position. Personally, I am honored to have the opportunity to represent students and I know that each of us care deeply about SUU and the students' needs and wants. I hope that you all feel comfortable approaching one of us about questions, concerns, or ideas you have for this University. We really are just students too after all.

Make the student experience better here at SUU for others and you will have a much better student experience yourself. That's what I have tried to do up to this point in my time as an SUU student and I've found a lot of satisfaction in it. I hope to expand upon that as an elected rep.

Pretty much its a popularity contest, Student government reps are there to make themselves look good, they don't care about me, I'm Anonymous to them:)

Since voter turnout is usually pathetic, then maybe SUUSA should hold Olympic style events and whoever has the most points-WINS!!!

Perhaps our concern should be the number of votes that were cast, not who they were for. How many students attend SUU? 8,000? Only 1,420 people voted. Is no one else horrified by this? I don't feel that we can complain about a particular party winning when 85% of the student body didn't even take time to voice their opinion. If democracy is dead at SUU, the fault lies with the student body, not with elected candidates.
You ought to care

* didn't win, I mean.
You ought to care

Are you sad the people you voted for didn't care, or are you just that difficult to please? Don't dismiss the elections and everyone who worked hard on them just because you're ornery. Maybe you should try getting involved instead of whining.

The only funny thing that i see here is the fact that there are a bunch of people complaining about something they did nothing to change. Do you have a big problem with the way things are ran.... THEN DO SOMETHING! This is the disease of this generation. Plenty of people to complain and argue against, yet no one willing to take action to change it. If you feel fulfilled by commenting on a story, complaining to a friend, or sitting and thinking about what you feel is unjust, then let it be so. Keep getting your kicks out of being a naysayer and a complainer. But luckily, there are those few who still survive who believe in action. Those few who will not be "one of those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat." Personally, more power to you, Cody Alderson, for going out and working hard, being a doer and not just a thinker, dreamer, or speaker. You are standing and working for what you feel is right. and until these weak excuses for self-proclaimed "know hows" take some action, keeping working towards a better SUU.
early results

haha i find it funny that you guys find the early results a buzz kill. everyone knew who was gonna win. the Pro candidates party have made a communist reign over SUU and the results prove it... here's to another year of "surprise elections" and dictatorship from czar alderson
don't care

who cares if this was announced early? the election is a giant farce anyway. i mean they announced it before a band nobody has ever heard of played. maybe next year they should announce it before halftime of a jazz game when the jazz club meets.
